Omni CT has commercialized a truly Omnivorous waste conversion system to produce a valuable Syngas.

OmniSyngasTM is a refined gas tailored to a wide range of applications. We do this using our Omni CT syngas cooling and conditioning suit.

We offer two variations of gas conditioning:

  • Type 1 for IC engines and steam turbines.
  • Type 2 for Fisher Tropsch, hydrogen and chemicals using catalysts

Hydrogen, Biofuels, SNG and Chemicals

OMNI CT works closely with end use technology providers to deliver OmniSyngas™ to meet the downstream process criteria.

These processes employ catalytic reactors, in which the catalyst can be deactivated by the presence of contaminants in syngas, such as tars, sulfur, nitrogen, and chlorine compounds, alkaline and heavy metals, and particulate matter. The GPRS™ employs a variety of proprietary processes for cracking tars and removing them from the syngas. For these applications, a Selexol™ solvent process is installed after the removal of particulate, tars and halides to reduce the sulfur level below 1ppm, and to remove acid gases such as CO2. Further CO2 separation can also be done via two-stage Selexol™, classical PSA or using amines.

Producing Hydrogen with OmniSyngasTM

The vast majority (~99%) of hydrogen today is produced from fossil fuels, namely natural gas and coal gas. H2 from electrolysis requires green electricity to produce green H2 from water. OMNI CT introduces the ability to use the biogenic energy in the waste stream to create green hydrogen while eliminating disposal.

Depending on the waste input, H2 can qualify as green hydrogen or blue hydrogen. A typical OMNI200™ can make syngas sufficient to produce 4500-5200 tonnes of H2 per year. Units can be operated in parallel for larger outputs. Electrical power usage is about 1/6 that of electrolysis. CO2 from OMNI200™ GPRS™ syngas can be efficiently captured for downstream use or sequestration.

Producing Electricity with OmniSyngasTM

OmniSyngasTM conditioned using Type 1 gas clean-up is ideal for the production of electricity using steam turbines, IC engines, or gas turbines.

Steam Turbines

The simplest use of OmniSyngas™ is making electricity with a steam turbine. Due to its high cleanliness, it can be used to generate steam conditions up to 540°C and 100 bars of pressure. This means up to 30% more electricity generated per tonne of waste than incinerators, with no discharge to landfill and ND dioxins and furans.

IC Engines

As demonstrated over several thousand hours of operation, OmniSyngas™ can reliably fuel IC engines to achieve combined cycle efficiency of 42%.

Gas Turbines

OmniSyngas™ can also be used directly to fuel small CCGT’s, or as a co-fuel in utility-sized units, for conversion efficiencies ranging from 36% to over 50%.
